This past weekend, was my first full weekend with the Littles. We kept very busy!
Saturday, April 18th
We went to Children’s Day in the Park. We got our faces painted, spent lots of time in the jumping house, played kiddie carnival games, painted rocks, played in the park with school friends we met along the way, and made several visits to the animal petting pen.
Imagine Josh teaching two little boys to squawk at chickens. It was hilarious! The guy who brought the animals and I were sharing a good laugh, as we watched the trio add choreography to their boisterous squawking and bocking.
To the boys dismay, Children’s Day ended around three, and we headed back to the house. The rest of the day, the boys took it easy with more sedentary games and toys. We took breaks from our play to make our dinner and dessert. They are getting better and better in the kitchen.
Preheat oven to 350. Crease and flour a loaf pan.
Beat together 1 1/4 c chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella), 1/2 c flour, and 2 eggs. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 25 – 30 minutes. Serves 8.

Sunday, April 19th
Josh and I took the Littles into Austin for the day. We found a bouncing house. The boys jumped for hours, until hunger called them away. We stopped in the park to eat the snacks I packed before driving home. Our quick stop, turned into another hour and a half of climbing on jungle-gyms, before our lack of a proper nap-time became horribly evident and we went fussily back to the car.
After stopping for an early supper, the boys fell asleep on the hour car ride back. The spent the evening at our house, helping Josh sort through the new Kitchen Cart we bought that is about halfway assembled now, playing Mario Kart, and enjoying a bubble bath before we headed back the their house for bed time.
Monday, April 20th
Before school we made…
Beat 2/3 c orange juice and 2 eggs into a mixture of 1 c flour, 2 T sugar, 2 t baking powder, and 1/2 t salt. Panfry in ghee. Serve with syrup or honey. Makes 1 dozen.
Josh’s help made a huge difference in the boys behavior! Even when he wasn’t they were more attentive and cooperative listeners:)
