Dear Sis,
We just got home from a wonderful visit to Nashville. We arrived Monday evening. Granny Bob made some of her wonderful beef stew!
Tuesday, we started the day with breakfast at Great Granny’s and a visit to a local playground.
Then we visited Opry Mills Mall. We had lunch in the food court, William and Daddy road the carousel, we ate yummy cookies, and enjoyed the mall play area.
We returned to Great Granny’s for a family filled evening. Uncle Jim grilled delicious steaks, and all the uncles, aunts, and cousins visited. We supplied dessert… Watermelon Jello Jigglers we were testing out for Evelyn’s party.
- 4 (6 oz) boxes cherry jello
- 2 (6 oz) boxes lime jello
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 pkg unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 c mini chocolate chips
- For layer one, set out 2 (9"x13") sheet pans. Stir lime jello into 2 c boiling water until dissolved. Stir in 2 c ice water. Divide equally between two pans and chill until set.
- For layer two, soften unflavored gelatin in 2 c cold water. Whisk in condensed milk. Pour half over each lime layer and chill until set.
- For layer three, scatter 2 T chocolate chips over each pan of jello. Stir cherry jello into 4 c boiling water until dissolved. Add 4 c ice water and cool to room temperature before pouring over half over each pan. Chill until set.
- Cut into squares and serve.
We rode a ferry on the way home! William got a kick out of it… to say the least:)
The ferry isn’t the fastest way to cross the Kentucky/Ohio line, but it is the most fun!
After crossing, we watched the ferry go back across.
Our visit was short, but wonderfully sweet!
Love,
b
