Fall Improvements

Dear Sis,

I try to do a home project each season. It usually gets done slowly, cause the kids are time hogs:)

Over the summer, William decided the drawer pull could double as a step stool. Needless to say, the drawer pull knew just how ridiculous that notion was, and promptly splintered out of the drawer front! I saved the handle knowing I could make a quick repair with two pairs of washers. I finally got around to it.

This poor piece of furniture has been with us since Texas. We used credit card points to buy it and used it for a few years as a television stand. The storage became William’s shortly after his birth. Now it is in our play room. Its low shelves and drawers are perfect for kids, but boy is it starting to look awful. I’ve been coloring all the scrapes and scuffs with black Sharpie. A future improvement post will no doubt be refinishing this piece of furniture:)

I started scraping and sanding back in September and was ready to paint in October, just as duty called us to PA. We have a warm spell for the next day or two, so I’m scrambling to finish up:)

Love,

Papa Jeff Appears

Dear Sis,

You know Papa Jeff has a tendency to turn up randomly on some work trip or another. It was our turn today:)

He arrived in the morning and we went shopping for a birthday gift for the kids since they both have fall birthdays. After lunch, I went upstairs to put Charlotte down for her nap. She never fell asleep, but we returned downstairs to this:

After all our running in the morning, we ended up buying a toy online. William really wanted a marble run, but Mama insisted we needed something that was baby safe. We ended up ordering a ball drop for the kids to share.

Love,
