Peachy Party Favors

Dear Sis,

Our little girl is going to be one in just a few weeks. Although we can’t have one big party, we will be having little celebrations with friends and family over the course of the month. We made favors to give on those occasions.

We purchased a five pound bag of peach rings and put them into 4×3 inch ziplock bags that can be found at any craft store… usually near the jewelry section. We were able to make 30 bags of 10. We put them all in our toy shopping basket, which William thinks is fantastic!

Favor Tag Assembly

  • Cut sections of card stock 3×3 inches and score in the center.
  • Print and cut You’re a Peach Favor Tags
  • Adhere tags to card stock and staple in place over ziplock closure.

Kangaroo Costume

Dear Sis,

Our living room has been a sewing studio for the past three days! William picked this kangaroo pattern this year. When I pointed out that only girl kangaroos have joeys, he said, “That’s okay. I’ll be a mama.” If he doesn’t care, neither do I:)

We used brown fabric instead of orange. The orange seemed too similar to the fox costume we made last year. William is so tall and thin, we made the 2T in width and the 4T in height:) We left off the contrasting cuffs at the wrists and ankles. It was long enough without it, and I figured it would only get dirty anyway. We also skipped the appliqué faces on the hood and stuffed animal. Since we decided to use brown fabric, the black appliqué would be nearly invisible. I decided not to do work, no one would be able to see. William didn’t notice it was missing.

There may be no trick-or-treat this year, but we are going to have a Halloween themed book club where we can wear our costume!

Visiting You Cause I got a Booboo

Dear Sis,

I visited the orthopedist today. My knee is on the mend. I don’t have to use the brace any longer. No hiking just yet, but I’m back to home life as usual:)

Thanks for taking such good care of me and the kids. It was amazing not to have to do any cooking, tidying, or laundry for two plus weeks. I was also glad I was able to give back. I hope y’all are enjoying your fresh living space:)

William spent hours each day, fishing in the pond with Papa Jeff.

Family friend Orville with all the kids piled on him:)

Great & Gran’s Visit

We moved so much into the dining room, in preparation for painting,

that we didn’t have room to sit at the table for dinner:)

Painting the living room and hall way whilst the kids play with Mom, Grandma,

and Papa Carmin, who popped in that morning.

The accent wall turned out AMAZING!!!

All your new family pictures look great!

A bit of spray paint made those frames look like new!

We finished just before it was time for the kids and I to go back home! I hope you enjoy your refreshed living space!!!

Taking it Easy?

Dear Sis,

I fell down the stairs Friday morning. I ended up in the ER later that day. The x-rays found nothing but a trip to the orthopedist lead us to an MRI on Wednesday. It turns out I cracked the cartilage and micro fractured my right knee. I was sentenced to three weeks of taking it easy!

After a few days on the couch, I was about to lose my mind!!! So, I decided to work on the landscaping project I had just started before my fall. Believe it or not, I reseated all the landscaping stones, weeded, mulched, and extended the landscaping around the side of the house. You can see the differences here: Landscaping 2018.

The old scape used to have two layers of landscaping stone.

I felt like it hid the plants! I also rounded the corners of this front section

I have now transplanted or split all but three of the original plants.

Also the landscaping stones used to end at the rear Hosta. Now it goes along the side of the house all the way to the fireplace bump out, where weeds are hard to trim.

All the extra landscape stones are in the back yard awaiting a new project.

See you in a few days!

Love,
